You are invited to Wise Woman Ways Farm Originally, the farm was started as a means to raise dairy sheep and goats for production of artisan cheeses, original recipe gourmet cheesecakes and unique fiber arts products. All for commercial sale. What I discovered was I didn't like the huge amounts of government regulations, paperwork and inspections, the huge amount of debt required in order to accommodate these regulations, but most of all I hated sending excess animals to market (this means to a slaughter house usually). Although there are respectful and sacred ways to take the life of those who provide us with our food, I choose to remain a 'no kill' farm. All excess animals are sold or re-homed as breeding stock and pets. This isn't profitable for me, but I can sleep at night. This may change in the future if I locate a certified humane processing plant. Next year the farm will offer CSF, community supported farms, memberships. Since farm buildings need updating in order to meet the Health Department requirements, improve pastures and fences for rotational grazing and locate appropriate equipment for increased cheese and cheesecake production...our memberships will begin in the fall of 2009. Hoop greenhouses for growing green fodder for the animals and specialty items for cheeses and cheesecakes will also be built. And more connections to other local producers for other products I need will also be established. Creating an environment for a sustainable and holistic small farm enterprise. This means more benefits to you and your loved ones. Healthy food from healthy soil and animals. In the upcoming year I will offer workshops for those of you wanting to learn skills related to spiritual farming, natural animal husbandry, simple fiber arts, small scale dairying and artisan cheese making. Any of these skills can be applied to city or suburban living. This next year will see the farm expanding its fiber arts creations too. Many small wool producers have either poor or no outlet for selling their wool at a decent price. For a number of years now wool prices will not even meet the cost of shearing. With the purchase of the 'felting loom' this upcoming year, I can now purchase wool from small producers and create more rugs, blankets and wearable art with a larger variety of design, color and types of wool for you to choose from.
The farm is dedicated to creating relationships rich in spiritual land stewardship for us and our future generations
Wise Woman Ways Farm located in the Texas hill country of Fredericksburg, Texas 432-413-3412

The farm lies in a 'magical' valley which sits on a number of the earths 'energy carriers' called ley lines. This affords us the opportunity to enhance the activities we are engaged in. The valley has its' animal guardians'. I am privileged to have buffalo here with me who are the guardians of the land. By watching their health and wellness I can understand the state of health and well being of the land. Here they are enjoying their morning 'treat' of fresh fruit.
